The International Criminal Court has issued a warrant for Vladimir Putin’s arrest. This is a very big deal.
As Prof. Chris Snow trenchantly writes at Medium:
“Ukraine is a crime scene” Karim Khan ICC Chief prosecutor
Two arrest warrants for alleged war crimes were issued
One for Putin, and another for one for Maria Lvova-Belova, Russia’s commissioner for children’s rights. Which is very cynical, as she has been organizing the deportation of children from Ukraine. Afterwards they are dispersed all over the Russian Federation. The goal is to “Russify” them. This is a marker of genocide and a war crime. Therefore, I want to applaud the ICC for issuing these arrest warrants. Let’s explore why this arrest warrant is more than just a symbolic act.

This arrest warrant is a historical moment
There are many out there now, brushing this off. You can all brush that off as much as you like. You can say “that doesn’t concern Putin in any way” “or that has no real significance” Oh yes, it does have major significance. The fact that the West is now confident in the successful (for itself) conclusion of the current war and, with no embarrassment, creates the legal grounds for formalizing its victorious results, referring to the international law, and other “smaller details”.
“Imagination disposes of everything; it creates beauty, justice and happiness, which is everything in this world.” Blaise Pascal
Putin is now officially set up to be the next Milosevic (Gaddafi, Saddam, etc.)
The West is already preparing to deal with Putin just as it dealt with those that came before him. If the current Western coalition was less confident in their victory it would have refrained from these actions. This is also a major blow to those around Putin, as they can now never know on which of their holidays their own warrant may be issued. So, I doubt to see anyone of the major war criminals step foots on any nation’s soil which has ratified this court. Putin factually became the world’s most wanted war criminal yesterday.

This is a theme we will keep coming back to in the future, Putin and children
We have this morbid obsession of Putin, not just with Ukrainian children but also with Russian children. I have linked a documentary on that here. This fierce indoctrination of children in Russia at a very young age, all part of Russia’s “Russian World” quasi mystical nonsense. But we must not forget that also an arrest warrant was issued against Maria Lvova-Belova and that should send more shivers down the spines of Russia’s war criminals. This is a signal that the West will not just go after the top tier of the vertical of power. This woman is maybe D, E or F tier in this power structure. Even these “smaller” elements of the power structure shouldn’t get too comfortable. Justice will come for Putin and his henchmen. Justitia never sleeps, and she has no humor. Putin’s regime will be held accountable. This is not something they will be able to just “brush off.”
