Wallace Lee at Quora reveals Russia’s military weakness and effort to gaslight the West into withdrawing aid to Ukraine. Excerpt:

Since Putin can’t win his war in Ukraine, Putin’s one and only objective in this war is to persuade the west that helping Ukraine isn’t worth the effort.

In order to get that result, last year Putin choose one small town to conquest where his army was stronger and easier to resupply: the city of Bakmut. Bakmut had zero strategic value and Putin choose that particular town just because it was meant to be the easiest possible target for a conquer, ANY conquer to boast about.

One year fast forward we now know for a fact that Bakmut had zero strategic value because now – after so many months after ‘conquering’ Bakmut – the Russians made ZERO further advances.

And that’s the reason why – one year later – Putin is still trying to convince the west that helping Ukkraine isn’t worth the effort by attacking Avdiivka for the very same reasons one year ago Putin started lunching a full scale assault of Bakmut rather than any other point on the map.

BUT

But during the following last days (today is 01/14/2024) Ukraine Armed Forces has started INCREASING the number of counter-attacks inside Avdiivka. This means that Putin may be entering this year with no Pyrric victory to boast of to the west.
